About Mammoth Cave Campground

Mammoth Cave Campground offers campers a prime location to explore both the depths and surface treasures of Mammoth Cave National Park.  Clicking on the site link will provide more details about the site's conditions. Be sure to check the 'Need to Know' section for each site to gather additional information on specific conditions.  All wheels must remain on the pavement within the campground, as varying conditions can cause muddy ruts and erosion. Mammoth Cave is an underground passageway with over 400 miles of naturally sculpted limestone and sandstone, making it the longest recorded cave system in the world. The grand-scale chambers and winding passageways were the inspiration for the park’s name.  The campground also serves as an entry point to 14 miles of hiking and biking trails, and is just a five-minute walk to the Visitor Center, where cave tours begin

very interesting place. as a former spelunker and cave mapper, my curiosity finally forced me to visit. great staff, a few ticks, watch out... nice little museum to explain the cave... the campground has NO ELECTRIC AND WEAK CELL COVERAGE. be aware of that. go early in the week for best quiet experience... but definitely go.

I knew coming in it was a primitive site . It would be nice to have atleast water and electric service at site. Also some park wi fi would be a great add on. It was a 5 star location but without atleast wi fi I gave it 4 stars. Bathrooms i gi v e a 1 star. No privacy for showers and yet had to pay to use them. Atleast fix the bathrooms as a priority fix.

Beautiful wooded campground. There were several loops which was great to bike or walk around. I was close to the bathroom which was helpful. Spots were clean. It was such a peaceful stay!

Great park, beautiful scenery. Our camping spot (98), could easily have been made level before paving, but wasn't. The food available for purchase in the camp store and cafe at the Lodge was just plain bad.

Rail bike trail poorly with inch and a half 2 in stone made biking difficult and had to turn back with hybrid bikes
