Been camping at Axtel for years. Love it there. Camp sites are good, and the beach is great and you have Nick's boat across the street. Would highly recommend camping there.

Axtel Campground is highly praised for its friendly staff, well-maintained sites, and beautiful waterfront views, making it a favorite destination for camping enthusiasts. Visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, ample space, and facilities like free WiFi, although some restrooms and showers have reported issues, such as lack of soap and water pressure. Overall, campers have had positive experiences and look forward to returning, despite some minor maintenance concerns.

We have been to Axtel numerous times over the past two years and have had nothing but wonderful experiences each time. Vicki, the voluntary camp host is very friendly and does an amazing job in assisting us with any needs or concerns that we have had. She also does a fantastic job at doing her part to keep the campground and each site clean for all who check into the rate. There is a wonderful sense of community and everyone who comes to camp there is so friendly. I’d definitely recommend Axtel to anyone. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful.

Very nice campground. More primitive campsites than are needed.
Very disappoited that the Corps of Engineers is leasing many campgounds to priate owners.

My wife and I both totally enjoyed our 37th wedding anniversary at Axtel Campground this year and plan on returning. The campground is well maintained and clean. The only disappointment was that the lake water was down, making the swimming area smaller than usual. Hopefully the dam will be repaired, and the water level will be back to normal the next time we camp there again.

The bathrooms haven’t had working hand dryers in years or soap dispensers. For the amount everyone pays the bathroom should be in better condition.
