Checking in was a little better the 2 time around ! They still asked for all my ID's and passes like i was attempting to enter a DOD facility . Site was blown clean of cut grass , site still not sprayed for weeds ,and fire pit not cleaned out . Bathroom were clean and stocked .

The new park attendant must have had very little Special High Intensity Training from the Corp. took about 30 min. just to get checked in. Not to mention showing all my ID's and after showing all the reservations on the phone . Growing pains from not having a paid park Attendant i'm quite sure they will get better. Site was blown off of leaves and debris , not sprayed for weeds . The fire pit was still full of last years ash and not cleaned out. The bath house was very clean !!

Very family friendly. Bathrooms weren't as clean as I would have expected, but over all a nice place for a family camping trip.

Plan ahead because this is a popular campground. The reservation process is easy enough and most sites are level or close to it. Site B29 is our favorite because it's a long site with plenty of room for a 40 foot 5th wheel and truck. It's a short walk to the shower/bath house. That comes in handy if staying for a week because black and grey tanks may fill up before week's end with no sewer hook-up. It's close enough to the water for kayaking or bank fishing. There's plenty of places to eat nearby. We like to eat dinner at the lodge and get ice cream at Nick's boat dock on the way back to camp. Breakfast at Little Dave's is a must. A trip to Rough River Hardware always happens - just to see if there's anything I didn't know I needed and of course fishing lures. We love to geocache - so we're always heading to Hardinsburg and Leitchfield. There's really plenty to do in the area - all you have to do is just go out and do it - if you get tired of relaxing at camp. It's a lovely area and the surrounding country is just as lovely.
