What Guests Are Saying
Zilpo Campground is praised for its beautiful location, clean campsites, and friendly staff, making for a generally enjoyable camping experience. Visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere and scenic views, with many indicating they would return. However, there are notable concerns regarding the condition of bathroom facilities, maintenance of amenities, and accessibility of water, suggesting that some areas could benefit from improvements and more attentive upkeep.

Our picnic table was so covered in mold and wood rot, it was unusable. The water spigots in our loop were not working. We had to get water from other side of campground. The main gate was only manned an hour or so each day, so it was difficult to purchase firewood or ice. The convenience store in beach area was never opened. The campground looked like no maintenance has been completed in a long time. Campers we met that had been here before, said they never saw it looking this rundown.
The camp host did a good job keeping the restroom and showers clean.
Pretty disappointed with our visit here.

Campground is a great location, but the facilities aren’t being taken care of like they have in the past. Several water stations don’t work. Some bathroom facilities have out of order toilets and urinals, and the main gate is not fully staffed.

This is my second time to Zilpo and the lady at the gate was super nice and helpful. We were able to find out campsite very easily. Unfortunately, the trails had some downed trees and in some places and it was hard to access the lake from our campsite. I learned that the storms last year ravaged the campgrounds and it's super hard to clear trees in that volume on such a large property. We found some work around, had an amazing peaceful time and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for a great experience this year!

Bathrooms were trashed, shower water was so hot that children could not bathe, and ultimately the shower rooms and bath houses were closed and replaced with portable toilets. It was not a good weekend for our family

Was sold a double site and it wasn’t the power box could only handle one plug. Very disappointing that I paid double the price and couldn’t even camp with the whole party. Only one shower house working and it was like trying to take a shower in a dumpster. Place is not worth the money will never be back again.

Despite the relentless rain the sites on H loop stayed dry. The restrooms were clean and a toilet paper dispenser that broke was repaired quickly. The one drawback is the water spigots by the camp site were not working.

First time at Cave Run Lake or any surrounding area. Lake was easily accessible from H loop for the whole family. Campground was more private than most but with water, electricity, flush toilets, and showers. Camp hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Store was closed but was opened by 7-3 when we returned (didn’t know everything was flooded the year before). We have already booked another trip.

Love,Love Zilpo Campground! It’s hands down better than TwinKnobs, the only campground my family and I will stay at, we’ve been staying at Zilpo Campground for over 15 years.
