About Baileys Point

Bailey's Point campground is the largest of the Army Corps of Engineers' campgrounds on Barren River Lake. This campground offers several waterfront campsites with scenic views of the lake. Though the campground is one of the largest, you won't know it. There is room to roam, five camping loops with diverse scenery, and private coves for swimming or mooring your boat. I have been going to baileys point for 50 years. It’s still the best campground ever. It would be really nice to have the little store in a section. But I understand it’s quite a commitment. Going back in two weeks with my grandkids. Glad to have the path to bathhouse open in c section.

I've been coming at Bailey's Point my entire life. I love the D loop. We had beautiful weather and Love the campsites. It seemed less kept up as it has in the past. The grass was quite high. But everyone was super nice. We will be back.

Well-maintained for the most part. Check out is 4:30pm, check-in 5pm but this is loosely monitored. Seems if the people before you have left, you can take your spot early. Bathrooms were not cleaned on a daily basis.

One of our favorite campgrounds in Kentucky. Excellent campsite layout with views of the lake from just about every site. And morning walks around any of the loops are rewarded with beautiful lake scenery.

Have been going to Baileys Point over 30 years and hope to continue going for many years. Not as nice as it used to be. Lots are not given the care they need and restrooms are not kept clean. Even so, the place itself is beautiful.

Two major issues. The first isn’t really Bailey Points fault per se, but this is the best place to leave the info.
We were completely surrounded by dozens (potentially hundreds) of non-English speaking highly likely illegal aliens. I think they had 12 out of the 14 that were right around us. We have been invaded as a country and our campgrounds are not immune either. We leave the city and go camping to get away from people and each site probably had on average 10 to 15 people and some even more. They had fireworks, dance party’s, loud music, loud trucks etc etc. They gad 4 or so cars for each site as well. Heck, they even used big gas powered leaf blowers to clear off the leaves from the forest so they could put extra tents all over the place to accommodate all their children and there were lots!!!

No rangers and no staff is ever around so nobody patrols for issues like these. They usually don’t even staff the gate booth either.

The second issue was overflowing raw sewage at the cleanout station. It was so bad that we had to go to truck travel center 30 miles down the road to empty our tanks.

Stayed in site D17 on this trip. Nice, long site. Front to back level is very close; side to side is about a 4.5" slope to the passenger side. Utilities were in good shape. D loop bath house men's showers were OK except for the drains being very slow. Saw workers in A loop snaking the drain pipes there so maybe D loop is better now? Campground is out favorite close to home.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
