About Baileys Point

Bailey's Point campground is the largest of the Army Corps of Engineers' campgrounds on Barren River Lake. This campground offers several waterfront campsites with scenic views of the lake. Though the campground is one of the largest, you won't know it. There is room to roam, five camping loops with diverse scenery, and private coves for swimming or mooring your boat. The view was beautiful. But the exposed rusted nails and rotting steps were NOT okay nor safe. I had our 3 year old daughter who I had to carry most of the time near the site bc of the rotting railroad ties with exposed rods and nails. Even busted a tire, which cost us $200. Completely unacceptable. I understand that the sites are older, but simple maintenance and making sure all sites are safe should be a requirement. Glad I didn’t bring our dog, could have easily stepped on nails also. I almost tripped multiple times going up and down the stairs to the picnic tables bc the steps were half rotted and missing. I understand that over time things wear down, but again, monthly maintenance and making sure there is no extreme deterioration of the site is something that prevent accidents from happening.

We have been going to Baileys Point Campground for 35 years. We truly love this place. It is a beautiful place and we have made many friends over the years. There are things nearby to do. Mammoth Cave, the Corvette Factory to name a couple.

I really wanted to give the highest rating, but the grass was so high and needed to be mowed so bad. Other campers were talking about that they had never seen it like this ever and they had been coming for 30 plus years. The high grass just aids the bugs. We joked that we should have brought our weed eater and trim around out sites.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
