About Baileys Point

Bailey's Point campground is the largest of the Army Corps of Engineers' campgrounds on Barren River Lake. This campground offers several waterfront campsites with scenic views of the lake. Though the campground is one of the largest, you won't know it. There is room to roam, five camping loops with diverse scenery, and private coves for swimming or mooring your boat. The campground was good. The lake was beautiful but the beach area needs a lot of TLC. The best thing was the campsite. The worse thing was the wash house. Bugs dead and alive all over the sinks. The showers absolutely disgusting. And this was the women’s wash house. My husband said the men’s was even worse! Would we go back? Probably not.

It's a very quiet, clean campground with lots of places to moore your boat close to your campsite. Easy to get camper pulled in. Also a lot of tent sites. They come with a picnic table and fire pit. Hiking close by and a big swimming hole at the Army Corps Dam if it's open.

I'm in a 35' Class A. Campground roads were tight, requiring and 3 point turn on the main loop. Fortunately, we had unhooked our towed Jeep before entering the campground. Our site had a very steep entry which should have been made more clear on the website. The asphalt was terribly marked up from people dragging. In addition, a large tree was in a position that made it very difficult to back in. This is a known issue, as rock had been placed as a make due shoulder. Our access to water was not on our site, but more of a community spigot that required 2 lengths of hose. Fortunately, we had that. Mayflies were so bad that we could not go outside without breathing them in.

Cell service was barely enough to access things, but you'd have to wait for pages to load and could not use for streaming. (Verizon).

Location is remote from town. Going anywhere required 30 minute drive.

Other campers were playing loud music that did seem to get addressed after some time.

We like Bailey's Point because it is quiet and mostly shady usually well maintained. We usually stay in Section A as was the case this time. We like to stay in Corps of Engineer parks because they are usually the best maintained parks.

Bailey’s Point is our favorite campground. Most sites have at least a water view with some directly on the water. Quiet and peaceful during the week and the weekends have more families with kids, so depending on what you are looking for. The bathhouses need some work on them; showers are in rough shape and need updating/upgrading.

This campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site. It is hidden in the countryside of beautiful farming and agricultural area. They have all the amenities; the lots are decent size surround by trees and a great view on the lake.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
