Tailwater is a peaceful campground with friendly hosts and a beautiful setting by the Barren River, making it a favorite among many campers. While some visitors noted issues with maintenance, such as restroom cleanliness and the need for infrastructure improvements, they appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and enjoyed activities like fishing. Overall, many families cherish their experiences there and plan to return, highlighting the campground's charm despite areas needing attention.

Given the fact that there are no sewer hook-ups, (which we knew in advance) we had to rely heavily on the shower house so that our black tank would last the 5 days of our stay. With that said, the shower house with one urinal and one toilet on the men's side was not nearly adequate for this size of campground. Worse, whoever heard of a restroom with no ventilation, (except for a grate at the bottom of the entrance door). Staff did a good job of keeping it clean though. Our neighbors had 3 constantly barking dogs and know one picked-up their poop the entire time. The smell got pretty bad towards the end of our stay. No Wi-Fi, poor, if any at all cell service. We probably will not be back to this particular campground again.
