Tailwater is a peaceful campground with friendly hosts and a beautiful setting by the Barren River, making it a favorite among many campers. While some visitors noted issues with maintenance, such as restroom cleanliness and the need for infrastructure improvements, they appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and enjoyed activities like fishing. Overall, many families cherish their experiences there and plan to return, highlighting the campground's charm despite areas needing attention.

Sites were too close to each other for our liking even though it is a COE campground. The multi-site water hookup that our hose did not reach marked this one down from other COE campgrounds we visited on our 5.9 mi,15 state, 33 day trip.

Good amount of space between you and the next campsite but not all sites are like this. Some, you are on top of each other with no privacy what so ever so if your ok with that then you're good. If it rains #23 campsite completely floods. You'll step out into a few inches of water. Do not recommend a tent on this site for that reason.
