Tailwater is a peaceful campground with friendly hosts and a beautiful setting by the Barren River, making it a favorite among many campers. While some visitors noted issues with maintenance, such as restroom cleanliness and the need for infrastructure improvements, they appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and enjoyed activities like fishing. Overall, many families cherish their experiences there and plan to return, highlighting the campground's charm despite areas needing attention.

Peaceful. Quiet. Beautiful scenery.
I just wished they would leave electric and water at the campsites until mid November.

Beautiful campground, quiet and clean, wonderful hosts! Didn’t understand why the water and electric was turned off so early but we can boondock with no problems.

Got there really late so it was quite dark out, however the camp is nicely lit. Had a lovely night with a sky full of stars. We were next to the river and a fog was there when we woke and disappeared as the sun went up, it exposed the beautiful campground. But be prepared for fishermen all around walking though our camp site. It was 40 mins from mammoth cave. We ended up staying a second night cause it was a nice vibe, definitely wanting to come back.
