Review of Grand Bayou Resort Stay & Wedding
Hello, I stayed in Lodge 6 from Monday through Sunday and also held my wedding in the indoor event center on Saturday.
I want to start by saying our wedding turned out beautiful, and the event center itself was amazing. Many of the staff around the park, including security, were kind, welcoming, and a pleasure to be around. We truly appreciated their hospitality.
Unfortunately, our experience with the lodge and cleaning personnel was disappointing.
The cleanliness and condition of Lodge 6 were not up to standard. There were broken tiles in the bathroom floor that posed a safety risk—we had to purchase a rug ourselves to cover them so our grandbaby wouldn’t cut her feet. There was also a loose doorknob upstairs, a broken table, and the outdoor patio area was covered in debris. The picnic table outside had visible rot with a chunk missing.
Additionally, at Lodge 4 (where family stayed), the wood at the front walkway was warped and uneven. I personally tripped over it while leaving and was injured (elbow, knee, ankle, and face). Thankfully nothing was broken, but this is a serious safety hazard that needs attention.
We were also told to hang towels outside each morning for exchange, which we did starting Monday. By Friday, we had no towels at all because none were replaced.
When we entered the event center on Friday (which we paid extra to access early), there was no toilet paper in the bathrooms, and the handicap stall was not working. I sent my mother to the front office to request towels and toilet paper, and she was met with extremely unprofessional behavior. One staff member became aggressive, yelled at her, and called me a liar regarding the towel situation.
When I went to the office myself to address the issue calmly, the same employee began yelling at me as well, repeatedly calling me a liar. Despite asking multiple times for her to stop speaking to me and explaining that her behavior was inappropriate, she continued to escalate the situation. This was very upsetting and honestly frightening for my mother. No guest should ever be treated that way.
This level of customer service is unacceptable. If someone does not want to work in a customer-facing role, they should not be in a position where they are interacting with guests.
Overall, while our wedding day itself was wonderful and many staff members were great, the maintenance issues and especially the treatment we received at the front office significantly impacted our experience.
I hope these concerns are taken seriously and addressed so future guests don’t have to deal with similar issues.

I frequently stay here I usually have no problems. This time our cabin had bed bugs! I’ve been reaching out to the manager with no response.

Very beautiful place , just alot of flying bugs by the Beach 🏖 other than that , very worth the experience,

This has been a great getaway this weekend with our son. He enjoys the beach here, and we took our pontoon boat out on Grand Bayou for him to go tubing and kayaking. We stayed in one of the lodges for two nights. The only suggestion I have is that they add a hand towel rod/ring in the bathroom. There’s no where to hang a hand towel. We loved everything else! The staff are very helpful and responsive. The grounds are clean and very well maintained.
