Greenbelt Campground serves as an excellent base for exploring Washington, DC, offering a safe and peaceful environment. While bathroom facilities could use some updates and maintenance, the campground overall is well-maintained, with friendly staff and a beautiful natural setting. Many visitors appreciated the quiet atmosphere, convenient location near the Metro, and affordable rates, making it a recommendable spot for camping in the city.

This is our 3rd visit to Greenbelt campground and we will continue to make it our annual camping trip! Staff are helpful, restrooms are clean, and the campsites are well maintained! We were so happy to see so many families there this year!

My family enjoyed our two-night stay at a great camp site. We appreciated the friendly and helpful rangers who offered an evening 9/11 program. The only thing that prevented a 5 star review was the loud noise of the cars racing on the beltway at night. However, my family would still go back for another camping trip!

It was such a wonderful experience! 🌿🏕️ I stayed at lot 42, which was conveniently located near the bathrooms. The bathroom was very clean, and the shower was amazing.
I felt very safe because I could always see the park rangers patrolling the area, which gave me a lot of peace of mind.
Our original plan was just to go camping, take a shower, and then head out to explore. But everything was so peaceful and beautiful that we ended up staying at the campground all afternoon, simply enjoying the nature and the tranquility.
It was such a great experience, and I will definitely be coming back! ❤️🌲

Very nice hosts, just wish the NPS would let them do more tasks that they would voluntarily do!
A lot of trees need serious pruning over the roads and in the campsites.
Whoever cleaned the bathrooms didn’t do anything! They were relatively gross and mold in the shower- it was NEVER cleaned the week I was there!

Site was occupied when we arrived, so we used the neighboring campsite which was open. No real issue, just a surprise that it happened and no way to check with the supervisor or ranger to see what happened.

I went tent camping, we only stayed 3 days and 2 nights. The camp ground was very nice, section D was a little crowd but people behaved very well. The only downside was a smaller size RV, was running a giant generator while the owner went to work all day from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, and left his 2 German Shepard dogs barking all day inside the RV. I am sure it was to run the air for the dogs but It was hard to find peace, and I ended up with a massive headache. I am glad the generator would finally stop at 8:30 pm at night each night, but I could not handle that anymore and had to leave. The camp has nice hiking trails and you can bring your bicycle. For tent campers to have a good experience, it is imperative that RV campers have their own section, since we all have to pay the price for their convenience, and I don’t think that is fair at all.

Super positive experience. Greenbelt Campgrounds proximity to DC and the METRO made this a prefect home base for us.
