I LOVE this campground!!! It is perfect for bird watching, hiking and just relaxing. I like that there are almost all tenters… very few RVs . The rest rooms are clean.

Owens Creek Campground offers a serene and well-maintained camping experience with spacious, private sites nestled among trees. Campers appreciate the friendly and attentive hosts, clean bathrooms, and complimentary firewood, enhancing the overall enjoyment of their stay. While some noted occasional noise from other campers and the need for trail maintenance, the peaceful ambiance and natural beauty make it a desirable destination for future visits.

Many of the sites have driveways that are not level. This is not noted in the campsite description. We had to change to a new site from the one we had reserved as we couldn't get our campervan level -- we were lucky because there were only 2 sites available, but one had a fairly level driveway.

Best campground in Thurmont! The camp sites have a mulch base instead of that dreaded stone chip/dust.

Chillest campground I have stayed at. Pull up, set up camp, and have your reservation ready in case someone wants to check. No stress about checking in. Easy access to firewood and the bath house. Tent pads are covered in mulch which made for comfier sleeping on thin sleeping pads.

Stayed in site 27, very close to the restrooms and washroom (not close enough to bother anyone, in my opinion). The site is also close to the creek and nature trail (yellow triangle marker) which allows one access to other trails (blue, red). Would not recommend for anyone with stairs/steps issues, as the vehicle parking area for the site is lower than the fire ring, picnic table and tent area and there are 3 or 4 "long lenthwise steps" to reach that area. It was not an issue for me but may be for handicapped, toddlers or seniors. I had no access to T-Mobile, until I went on the Yellow nature trail, across the creek and up the hill to the next intersection (5 min walk). Firewood is by donation at the front part of the camp. Hope you enjoy.

I really like this campground and how many hiking/biking trails it contains nearby. Two items of constructive criticism. First, I don't understand why only one car is allowed. If you're meeting someone there and driving from separate places, you have to have two cars. Two cars fit fine at the campsites. So why the manufactured limitation to one car? Second, the dogs at this campsite were extremely annoying. There was at least one that barked its head off all evening, and starting again early the next morning. This is the responsibility of the people who brought the dog, not on the Park Service. But I do think having a ranger or a campground host to ask the guest to keep the noise in check would have greatly helped the experience. Sadly we live in a time where social norms are unraveling around us, and I'd be willing to bet that 20-30 years ago the owners would have been ashamed of the barking and would have actually tried to quiet the dog. But alas. As things go, it would have been nice to have some official supervision to keep noise in check.
