This trip was wonderful, I enjoyed walking around and sering the investments of time to fix up thr entrance area, bug look forward to whatever else may be happening. My only disappointment was we needed to leave, mid trip during to lack of toilet paper in boating area. The doos tracker stated it waz cleaned on our to arrival date however therd wasn't stocking.

We really enjoyed our stay at McCoys Ferry. The park is clean and rarely busy when we go. We enjoyed watching the sunrise over the river and got some great photos. We hiked on the C &O canal to Fort Frederick State Park and got some ice cream at the camp store while there. It is a great camp site for anyone who loves trains.

The campsite is right on the trail about 20 minutes to larger cities. Beautiful countryside. The only drawback was the extremely loud powerboats on the river. Thank goodness the just came and went and did not stay too long.

I really enjoyed staying at this camp site. I forgot that it mentioned the tunnel entrance clearance is 9'10" and I barely made it with my van so that is something to watch out for. This is a great destination for water activities. There is quite a bit of traffic on the canal but if you stay close to the shore it is peaceful. There are no trash receptacles so you must carry your trash out with you when you leave.

If you can trim some bushes for the river view that will be amazing. The boats in the river are a bit annoying but manageable. Will return.

The campground is small but well maintained. The porta-johns are serviced twice a week. We have found on previous visits that other campers pay attention to the quiet hours restrictions for the most part. There is a rail line not far away from the park but the train traffic hasn’t ever really been bad. Cell service can be spotty but moving around the site usually takes care of that.

Great camping area right along the river. There was one composting toilet in the parking lot everything else was porta potties. The door to the composting toilet would not close all the way. Not really an issue as it was a one at a time use anyway. The porta potties were terrible. They were full and smelly. They had been "serviced" a day or so before we got there but apparently what that meant was toilet tissue was placed. Certainly not emptied or sanitized. We did see a park ranger both days coming through to check on things.
