I had high expectations for Pine Acres Resort, and while there were some positives, overall I left disappointed.
The good:
The camping area is very well maintained, spacious, and well organized. Everything was kept clean, and I really enjoyed the Friday/ Sunday activities—they were fun and a great touch for families.
The bad:
The pool is far too small for the size of the resort. In the mornings, the lake is in the shadow and very cold, so most guests head to the pool, making it overcrowded. By the afternoon, the pool area also had an unpleasant smell.
Our cabin (#68, a full-service cabin) was poorly maintained. The first two days were very hot, but we couldn’t use the AC because it smelled strongly of humidity and mold. The kitchen cabin also had an overwhelming mold smell—so strong that we chose not to use anything inside and instead bought everything we needed. The cabin didn’t have any mosquito screens, so if we kept the doors open, flies would immediately get inside, making it very difficult to keep food safe.
Unfortunately, the last two days it rained, and since we couldn’t use the AC or comfortably stay outside, we ended up leaving two days early.
Overall, while I loved the outdoor spaces and activities, the cabin experience was very disappointing. This could be a wonderful resort if they properly maintained their cabins and improved the pool situation.
