M-22 will be closed from 8:30 am to approximately 2 pm between the City of Frankfort and Esch Road.To avoid road closures, arriving campers should not arrive before the scheduled check-in time of 2 pm.To avoid road closures, departing campers should exit by 8:30 am via Deadstream Road, Platte Road, or M-22 northbound. Southbound M-22 will be closed.

Park employees (including the host lady and the ranger who checked us in) were friendly and helpful. The park was clean, beautiful generally a good place to stay.
##THERE WAS ONE GLITCH THAT DETRACTED FROM OUR EXPERIENCE###
The folks next to us were having some kind of reunion, with a LOT of people on the site. They were VERY loud. They were note swearing or abusive, so we kind of let it go. At one point in mid afternoon, a ranger walked by, and the noise went away for about an hour, then resumed. MY MAIN COMPLAINT REGARDS QUIET HOUR: After 10pm there was sporadic shouting, including some kind of goodbye at 12:30 AM. Wildly inconsiderate. Quiet hour is a cut and dried, zero tolerance rule. Patrols and enforcement should be absolute. One the kids are awakened, it's hard to get them back to sleep.

The campsites are much bigger and provide more privacy than at the state parks. It is a beautiful setting. It was disappointing that the quiet times were not adhered to. There were many young children and adults making a lot of noise past 11pm.

Camping here was a great experience. It was very clean and peaceful. The sites were spaced far enough apart. The staff was professional and friendly.

We love the Platte River Campground! Site #113 was very nice. Lots of privacy yet close to the bathroom. Was a little tricky backing in due to the wall across from the site. This is the Cadillac of campgrounds! Thanks for keeping it up so nicely!!

From the east (Traverse City): Take State Highway M-72 west to Empire. Turn south on State Highway M-22. Proceed 10 miles 16 km) (and turn right on Lake Michigan Road. Follow the signs to Platte River Campground.
From the south (US-31/M-115): At the junction of U.S. Route 31 and M-115, continue north for seven miles (11 km). Turn left on Platte Road. Proceed five miles and turn right on M-22. Proceed one mile (1.6 km) and turn left on Lake Michigan Road. Follow the signs to Platte River Campground.

- Entrance Fees - Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore charges a variety of entrance fees, depending on how a visitor arrives at the park. All visitors must have an entrance pass (separate from camping fees). The park also honors Federal Recreational Lands America the Beautiful (e.g., Resident Annual, Non-Resident Annual, Senior, Access, Military, 4th Grade, Golden Age). For more information visit the park's Fees & Passes web page. The Michigan Recreation Passport is not valid for entry at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which is a federally managed site.
- 6. Quiet hours are 10 pm - 6 am.
- Violation of terms may result in permit suspension, revocation and/or issuance of a citation by law enforcement.
