Beautiful campground. Well kept and clean restrooms. Plenty to do in the area. Glen Lake boating was fantastic!

On my next to last night in camp both bathrooms/showers in Loop 4 were closed. It would’ve been helpful to leave a note explaining what other bathrooms were available.

Lower Platte River - Bring your own tube and float down to Kittendorf Landing. Get out and walk back. Not too long of a walk. Very relaxing.
Ride bikes from Beulah to Frankfort on the Betsie River Trail. Have lunch at Stormcloud Brewing. Great food and beer.
Ride bikes from Empire to Glenn Arbor or further on the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail.
Many beautiful hiking experiences depending on level of difficulty.

Extremely large sites, lots of families but it was still very quiet! The facilities were clean. It was centrally located to all of the Sleeping Bear Dunes activities, and towns on M22. It's a short drive to Leland which is a must see, and Traverse City if you want to visit a larger city. Northern Michigan is known for White Fish, this is a must have when you are in the region.

This was my first time staying at the walk in sites and it won’t be the last. We had a camp site that had a beautiful and clean space, the bear box was right on site (although I know others were shared, ours was not), and the trails to the site were well maintained. The facilities were not far at all, I’d say a 4 minute walk from the site. There seemed to be enough space between sites that it still felt pretty distant from others.
As far as things to do, we drove up to Glen Arbor to bop around on a rainy day and went to Rinco Bros Coffee, amazing stuff! Really great pour over. We also went to the Empire Bliff trail to see the overlook. This is my second time camping at Platte River and I can’t wait to do it again!

Despite being difficult to make a reservation due to it being popular, the campground itself was great. It was dark and quiet at night, as it should be. Bathrooms and showers were clean! It was close to the activities we wanted to do. Make sure to check out Platte River Point for swimming in the river and Lake Michigan! We plan on returning because we didn't get to do everything we wanted to in the area.

Stayed in site 306 for a week. The site is nice and level. Closest to the bathroom which mean more foot traffic but convenient. The bathroom/showers were nice. The only recommendation I would give would be to have the cleaning times on a posted schedule. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason when they would clean which was a bit of a problem at times. We had a 25 day trip and this was one week of that 25 days. This park was by far the best camping of the entire trip. The state parks were all very crowded and small unlevel and unpacked sites. We would stay here again.
