We stayed at site #422, which was spacious and had a nice elevated tent area. The site is relatively close to the bathroom, yet far enough away that we were not affected by the foot traffic. The biggest bonus was the lack of mosquitoes!
Our only complaint was the noise from the site across from us. A couple of guys were very loud until well after midnight and were using a lot of profanity. I wish a ranger had intervened. We were all women and did not feel comfortable approaching them.

Surprising that the campground was full in late September, but we found one spot the week before.

Excellent Campground. Great paved sites. Ours was a dry camping site. Easy bike ride to the sunset point. Great facilities. Clean showers.

The hike-to camp sites are amazing- tent pad, firepit, and picnic table, not too close to anyone else. The bathroom facilities are great, also not too far away. Lake Michigan is only about 3/4 of a mile away and the views are stunning.
Only downside is needing a National Park pass to camp there, so anticipate an extra $25 to cover that.
Maybe the coolest campground I’ve been to, we’ll definitely be back.

The campground has good privacy even where we were at site 231. Access to a network of trails, including a one mile hike to the lakeshore. We hiked Lasso Loop deep into the abutting national park forest land. 8 mi total and a beautiful hike. The firewood is $10/bundle so a bit pricey. If you’re a fisherman during salmon and steelhead season you’re in luck with close access to the Platte River. The campground has always been one of my favorites in Michigan.

Great check-in experience with the Ranger. He provided helpful information about the area and recommended area sights. Campground was well maintained with clean facilities. We enjoyed our stay and plan to visit again.

Cleanest facilities imaginable. Shower, bathroom, and wash station were immaculate. The bear proof lockers at every site made food storage super easy.

we were camped right next to spotlessly clean restrooms. The whole campground was nice and clean. There is a beautiful trail to hike to Lake Michigan and is well worth the effort.
