When we got home we looked at this webpage and it discussed the huge amount of mosquitoes. We encountered them and more. It would have been nice if we got that notice BEFORE we went instead of after we got home! It was miserable, but we did hear owls 3 different times in 2 nights. As usual, we very much enjoyed the campground. It was very quiet and clean. We did not appreciate the humidity and downpour, but I guess that is part of camping (and not the park's fault.

I enjoyed the whole area. The campground itself had more mosquitos than I had ever seen. I should have brought a screen room for cooking. Since I did not have one, I went to Frankfort for dinner and to a picnic area near the water for morning coffee and breakfast where the breeze kept the bugs to a reasonable level,

It was our first time camping at the Platte River. The campground is very dense, but the lots are great. The staff and volunteers are very friendly, and busy at work. There are plenty of restrooms. There’s garbage and recycling everywhere. I enjoy hiking and the beach, but the mosquitoes and black flies made it difficult to enjoy the outside. The beach is about 2 mi by bike.

The campground was immaculate. Sites were large and very well maintained. Bathrooms & showers were clean and inviting. One does not expect such nice amenities in a NPS campground. We are recommending Platte River to friends & family.
