We met a ranger who stopped by our site to tell us about her wildfire talk at the amphitheater that night. Great experience, fun for the whole family

Camp is beautiful, sites are well laid out and are kept clean.
We had trouble with our camper and the staff and host went way above and beyond to help us.

We started coming to the Platte Campground in the mid nineties for family camping. My children have always loved the night programs and still attend them. This year the weather was great so we could float down the river.

We enjoyed staying on site 311. There was a direct path to the bathrooms, even though they were a site away. We really enjoyed how the campsites are spaced apart, allowing for more privacy than typical RV oriented campgrounds. The only thing that caught us off guard was the price of firewood ($10/bundle). We are used to state parks that are usually $5 or $6 a bundle. Bathrooms were always super clean, as well as the showers and camp sink. However, we did wish there were more showers- two showers for 27 sites is not enough. We will definitely be back at some point and see why this park is hard to get a reservation in.

Campground was clean and quiet. Appreciate the clean restrooms and showers.
A short walk or bike ride to the river or store across the street. Lake Michigan Beach short drive.
We love this place, although a bit if a struggle to get in. Disappointed to see sites empty for several days, when web said full. That's on the people not campground.

Platte River Campground is located in one of the most beautiful spots in Michigan to visit - Lake Michigan, Platte River, Sand dunes and the beautiful Michigan sunsets will take your breath away. The Campground offers large sites-and private showers. Take a break from fast paced living to such a relaxing area- it should be on your bucket list !
