Would recommend site 416! The trash can being next to the site really was not an issue or disturbance.

This is our favorite campground.
The surrounding bodies water are especially beautiful for kayaking and fishing. The surrounding towns are quaint and provide a nice side to the quiet relaxation of the campground. The time of year is wonderful and interesting with the fall salmon run.

I loved this campground. It is one of the most thoughtfully laid out campgrounds I have ever stayed in. So peaceful! I had neighbors but never was that aware of them. As a single woman alone, I felt very safe. Went down to the river for sunset, as suggested by the ranger, and it was lovely. If I ever return to the area, I would definitely stay there again.

the bathrooms were clean and the showers were hot as always, it always nice to be able to take a hot shower when away from home, and was nice to have some place to recycle cans and plastic bottles. I liked the fact that i could help our son get a site so he could camp with us . My husband said the staff at office was polite when we checked in .

Had a very nice campsite in the walk in area. It was quiet after 10 with few disruptions. Bathrooms were clean although it was a bit of a walk to get there. Very nice campground.

We stayed in walk in A8. This site is the furtherest from the parking lot and restroom/shower. It seemed like a quarter mile walk in one direction.
This site is the best site in my opinion. Site A7 was across the way, but it was empty. We were secluded and it was so quiet.
A group of deer comes through in the mornings and passes close to out site.
The bear box kept all the animals out of our food.
We heard a great horned owl several times, it was so cool
Love the black squirrels, so freaking cute.
The bathrooms were very clean, and I used the outlet overnight to charge a powerbox.
Walk .8 mi from the bathroom down to the beach.
Staff was friendly and helpful, the ranger recognized I had a birthday and helped me get my America The Beautiful lifetime pass and got a discount on my reservation.
We rate this site #2 of our sites camped at in the country (#1 is campsite 48 at Jenny Lake)
Wonderful experience at Platte River Campground.
Also - no bugs the third week of September

Difficult to get a site. It's quite popular there. Finally got in off an alert we set. Campsite was level, paved, and easy to back in the trailer. Wide spacing between sites gave you the privacy you needed, but easy to find friends. Bathrooms were excellently maintained. Recommend your first stop to be the Hart Visitors Center so that you can get orientated on all the activities, trails, history, and sites of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Highly recommend the Empire Bluffs Trail. Bring your bike. Lots of opportunity to bike on dedicated bikeways.
