We were pleasantly surprised by Nichols Lake. We booked at the last minutes so we’re unsure of what to expect given than most camp grounds were full by the time we decided to book.

The camp ground itself is great. We were happy with the lot sizes and the separation the trees provided between most sites.

The only downside is the location of the campground itself. It’s not located near much else, with could be a good thing if you are just looking to relax. The trail that runs through it is pretty great though, so over all a good place to camp! Also, Ludington isn’t too far and can make a good day trip.

Camp hosts were warm and welcoming. Pristine small lake teeming with smallmouth and largemouth bass. Birds singing in the morning was a special treat. Great for canoeing, with two launch ramps. Ideal weather to boot. Felt perfectly safe.

Traverse City is a fun and interesting day trip.

Very limited restaurant and entertainment options outside the campground.

We'll be back!

had been many years from our last visit, the campground was how I remembered but it is in DIRE need of upgrades to restrooms. they were dirty and the tree frogs in showers were a nice touch.
