What Guests Are Saying
Island Lake Campground offers a remote and quiet experience, making it ideal for relaxation and outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking. Visitors enjoyed the beauty of the lake, the abundance of wildlife, and highly recommend the sunset boat cruise. However, some guests noted issues with the rusty hand pump for water and proximity to other campers, but overall, many expressed a desire to return.

Great campground. Small rustic and pretty easy to find. Several locations to put in kayaks or canoes. Fish will bite but tend to be small. A great introduction for fishing from a kayak. Lots of birds from woodpeckers to swans the beavers may have moved on but they left some downed logs. Far enough from town to get the night sky you have been looking for.

Island lake campground is remote and quiet! Just what we were looking for. We took a short trip into Munising each day to enjoy the Pictured Rocks National Park and do some hiking. We also took the sunset boat cruise to see the rocks from the water. Highly recommend the sunset cruise as the sunlight really makes it a beautiful way to end the day. The campground had several of the reservable sites booked, but people did not show up. The only thing we found to be disappointing was the water. The hand pump was very rusty and not appealing to drink, so we filled our water jug at a different location. Definitely would camp at Island Lake in the future!

The camp ground is well kept and was nice and quiet. Had some luck fishing for pan fish, however bring some waders so you can walk past the weeds off the shoreline. If you want to grab a good meal and a cold beer, the Buckhorn resort is a 5 minute drive. Place is great

Very quiet campground. Never spoke with anyone in charge. My site was off by itself and private. Enjoyed the time there.
