The Cabin was constructed in 1991 and overlooks the 132-acre McKeever Lake. While the facility offers little in the way of modern amenities, convenient access to a number of recreational activities, including hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming and cross-country skiing, make this cabin a desirable destination for the outdoors enthusiast. When snow is present, the cabin may be accessed by snowshoe or cross-country skis via a 1-mile trail.

What Guests Are Saying

Mckeever Cabin offers a quiet and peaceful retreat, perfect for unplugging and enjoying nature, with well-stocked amenities and comfortable interiors. Guests appreciate the beautiful surroundings, including a nice lake for canoeing and nearby trails for hiking and skiing. However, some found the parking situation inconvenient, requiring a long walk to the cabin, which can be challenging for those with mobility issues; packing light or using a wagon is recommended.

We had a great experience at the cabin! There was a little confusion at first about which path to take once you park. When driving in you pass a gate - this is the path to the cabin. You can't park there so you drive a little further to where you park. We just dropped our gear at the gate, then parked. If you have room to bring a wagon, it will make life easier as others have noted. The toilet was well stocked with TP, the wood shed has a good stock of wood along with an axe to split if needed. The lake bottom is sand (despite the black stuff - it is very thin).

Everything is fine there, but they make you park a quarter of a mile away for no reason. The road (path) you drive in on is no different than where you stop and have to walk. Also the road is barely marked on the main road, it takes a few drives by to see it. My wife has had both her knees replaced and I will have a hip replaced later this year, they make no allowances for anything. We toughed it out, but it would have been far more enjoyable if things weren't made extra difficult for no reason.

Great spot. Only complaint is you can’t drive up so you have to hike all your stuff in so pack accordingly unlike me. Absolutely beautiful and I will be back

Absolutely cozy and wonderful. Wood was well stocked. Mattresses looked new and were very comfortable. Wood worked great and interior of cabin stayed very warm. Inside was very clean and well taken care of. Enjoyed reading the journals of previous visitors. Toilet paper was stocked in the vault toilet. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Highly recommend this place

This cabin was beautiful up in the hill in the woods. There are no views of the stars. We were able to catch some of the Northern Lights from the waters edge. There are no beaches on this lake or at the property. The bottom is mushy and mucky except a small path when entering the water. It is very woodsy with beautiful trails. The downfall, the road you HAVE to walk to the cabin is hilly and long. It is about a ten minute walk from where you can park for your stay. After carrying a cooler and all our gear for two adults for 4 nights, it took 3 trips up and down the hilly road. Pack light and pack a cart with big wheels. It is a ton of walking and carrying you’ll be to tired to do much after the haul. I will come back but with a big cart to make one trip on the trail.

Quiet, peaceful and relaxing, beautiful surrounding, nice lake to canoe on.
Was surprised, virtually no flying insects. No cellphone service was a plus.
Cross country ski trails were nice to hike on. Biking trail not far away. Also in-between to stores and ice cream
