Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

The out houses were utterly neglected. I have been enjoying this campground for 40+ years. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with respect to the out houses. They were dirty and the toilet paper dispensers were not refilled.
It also appears the recycling containers are being removed at the same time garbage containers are being reduced in their numbers. If the recycling containers are indeed being eliminated, there will needs to be far more trash receptacles to handle that load. Otherwise, there will be more litter or folks will be burning things that should not be burned. The general public simply will NOT pack out their trash.
The "reservation only" camping is poorly executed, in my opinion, due mostly to the fact that one needs to drive upwards of 35 mi to get a phone connection so that they may make a reservation. I suggest putting a wifi hot spot (with a VERY low strength signal, that will not reach the campground sites) at the campground entrance (at the H-58 campground sign). That would allow people to make a reservation (or add more nights to an existing reservation) without the 70 mi round trip.

Difficult to determine the site you want without seeing pictures or being at site. Since their is no cell service at the site it is not possible to register at the sight.

Nice campsite with lots of trees and easy access to the lakeshore. Clean drinking water, and restrooms were well maintained.

This was an awesome site! We stayed at Twelve Mile Beach on the lake side of the road. Our site backed up to the beach and it was beautiful. We went in September and it was a little cold so make sure to dress warm if you are going in autumn. It stormed half the time we were there but we still had a blast. I recommend an overhead tarp if you are anticipating rain. Make sure to bring local firewood ahead of time if you plan on having a fire going. The chipmunks are always hungry and curious so always make sure to store your food. The sites are fairly close together but still far enough to have privacy. Beautiful campsite!

Beautiful beach steps away from the campground. Campsites nicely wooded and sufficiently far away from next door campers. Loved our stay.
