Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

12 mi Beach Campground is beautiful! The lakeside sites offer amazing views of Lake Superior. The hiking along the Pictured Rocks shoreline is excellent. The campground hosts were friendly and as helpful as they could be. The most frustrating part of our experience is that the only way to book a site or check availability is through recreation.gov. This does not make much sense when there is no internet service in the area or at the campsite. Unfortunately, the best lakeside sites and many other sites were not occupied due to no-shows. The campground hosts had no way of knowing if a site became available and they had no way of contacting those that had reserved the site to find out if they still planned to arrive. All the campers we met during our stay were complaining about this. We all had tried to book sites for weeks in advance and failed because rec.gov showed no availability. We arrived in hopes for a first come first served site only to find that the campground was far from fullly occupied, but the newly available sites were not an option because the no-show people did not officially cancel. Beautiful sites were abandoned and people willing to pay to stay were turned away. Simple solutions include equipping the hosts with satellite internet access or a satellite telephone to check availablity in real time or to call no-show people directly for an undate on their plans. As a result, when someone arrives in need of a site in a "fully booked" campground, the campground could actually double their money by booking it again instead of turning people away. Please work to correct this problem or stop managing remote campgrounds.

We traveled for 5 weeks to 10 different national parks, and our kids voted Pictured Rocks as their favorite destination, 100% because of this campground. The beach is RIGHT there—so beautiful and peaceful! The campground is quiet, clean and well spaced. The host was lovely and so helpful. We live 12 hours away in PA but we will definitely be back!

Beautiful, clean, well-kept campground with great views of the lake. Appreciated the very clean bathrooms. Campsites are fairly close together, so you will definitely see/hear neighbors.

We loved camping here! We camped at site 7 one night and site 37 the second night. We had direct beach access from site 7 so that was really great. Both sites were great and the camp host was super nice!

It was a fantastic campground with beautiful trees and an amazing beach on Lake Superior. The sunsets were absolutely incredible! I also highly recommend kayaking with Pictured Rocks Kayaking, it was the highlight of our trip.

Did not disappoint--we stayed in campsite 27 and loved it... quiet, beautiful path to the beach overlook! Unfortunately our stay was only one night and we'd come in from Munising in late afternoon, so we didn't do a lot of exploring around the campground, but it seemed like lots of lovely campers. The campground host was wonderful! This was the perfect place to chill out and enjoy the views of Lake Superior shoreline!
