Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

Facilities were well kept . Clean bathrooms and a nice quiet campground. We enjoyed hiking among all the other leaf peepers but... please leave your poorly behaved dogs at home . Fighting or overly "friendly" dogs make me very uncomfortable while sharing the trail.

Pros: nice to have your own paths down to the beach directly from your campsite. More sun than the forested side. Sites were mostly larger/more spread out on the beach side.
Cons: lots of sand to deal with. Biting flies were FAR worse on this side than the forested side. Lots of falling pine needle…like we couldn’t cook or do anything without pine needles falling into it. (This was in early October)

Not sure why the sight showed all sites were reserved when in actuality the camp ground was only a 1/3 full??

Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better week & stay!! Loved how remote the cabin was, & the beach was so close! Weather was wonderful- although that did lead to more flies! We had the best time regardless!
