Twelve mile is quiet and private. Sites are huge, most are well separated from adjacent sites. Amazing views of the lake from the bluff. The beach is stunning. A very special place.

Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

Spacious enough for our tent and car and with a well placed fire pit and picnic table. The access to the beach was honestly perfect. We heard the waves slapping on the shore nearby by there was enough tree coverage that the wind wasn’t an issue. You can walk maybe 50 ft and sit on the sandy hillside down to the beach and see all the stars and satellites in the sky. The toilets were close enough to be convenient but far enough away that they weren’t part of your experience. There’s also a very close water fountain nearby. No tree coverage that there’s spots for shade, but enough sunlight gets through that you can charge small mobile solar panels. Loved this site.

We enjoyed this campground so much. The beach access and lake views were spectacular. There is drinking water available and the restrooms were the cleanest campground restrooms we've ever seen. The camp host was so friendly and the campground was extremely quiet and peaceful even though almost every site was full. Be prepared for lots of sand in your tent!

Incredible spot. Easy hike in. It's on the trail so get ready to answer some questions but most hikers are really cool. Compost toilet is fun but weird. It's truly a magical place! The parking for it could be better; guard ur spot cuz other campers snag it even tho it says "12 mi cabin only." Rent this place; it's just simply the best!
