Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

The good-Camp host was pleasant and kind. The bathrooms were sufficiently placed and maintained throughout the camp ground. Water spigots were nearby and taste of water was great. Camp trash was well maintained. Sunsets and serenity of the campground is worth the effort.
The Bad -The stairs were washed out and broken and only a warning tape was put up. Disappointed how difficult it was to get to the beach and dangerous for young children or the elderly.
I didn’t realize we couldn’t have a changing/wash tent. That was disappointing and all grey water used at the campsite is disposed of in the camp pit toilet so I guess I don’t understand this rule but be aware. Also, we enjoyed the privacy of site 23 but don’t expect it to be a good site for a car tent as this site would not allow that due to the elevation of the site. The picnic table was also slanted due to the hill and not pleasant for our whole family to sit at do to the angle of the table.
It was my first time at this campground and although a lot of people rave about it a lot of the sites had no privacy and strange backpackers walk through on the hiking trail all the time. Also- you are at least 30 minutes from anywhere so bring everything you need before arriving. Happy trails

Quiet campground tucked up on the top of the lakeshore. Staircase to long, lovely beach.

This campground is quiet and beautiful. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that there needs to be more access for the non-generator sites to the beach; one of the staircases was damaged and they have yet to replace it. You have to travel to the other end if you want to use the stairs or hoof it up one of the sand banks. Other than that, the restrooms were cleaned and the trash was taken daily. I would definitely try to stay here again but reservations are a battle.

We stayed at 24 and it was gorgeous. It’s a shame that it’s so complicated to get a site. We were talking to the camp host and someone never even showed up at a reserved spot for 5 days!!! What a waste- people should really be respectful and cancel so others have a chance to experience this beauty!

The views at this campground are stunning. We camped on site 12 and had tons of space; we didn't feel crowded at all. It is a super quiet campground. The host was friendly and addressed issues promptly. Park Rangers had to come deal with two issues with campers near us and were very professional. Our kids loved the sandy, rocky beach and clear water. Some restrooms are cleaner and fresher than others, but overall we had a great stay.
