Very nice campground. Only one generator while we were there, so very quiet. Many flies.
I wish they had a few more campgrounds like this, as it’s clear demand is high.

Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

We love camping at 12 mi Beach! It’s our favorite campground in Michigan! The sites are large, beautifully located and are in gods shape. They keep the vault toilets in good shape and stocked. It’s so nice to be right in the shore of Lake Superior!

Campground was directly on the top of the dunes overlooking Lake Superior. Even though our site was not lake front it was an easy walk to the dunes and water. Site was large, private and clean. Had nice fire pit, table, tent and rv location all set back from roadway. Would definitely retiring.

The cool mornings at this campground were amazing. However the afternoon and evenings until dark were challenging for our family due to the large volume of biting Stable Flies. They were vicious and overwhelming for our kiddos who are 4 and 6.
The sunset was amazing but challenging to truly take in with the flies. I would come back but only do so late fall or very early spring.

We've been coming to pictured rocks for many years, this year the black flies were pretty bad, it seems to be fairly dependent on the temperature, if it's above 75 or so, then the flies tend to get worse, as the temperature cools the flies go away, not much seems to work to keep them away, maybe there's some remedy out there, but it can get pretty bad. Otherwise as always a beautiful sight, the water was cooler than normal for this time of the year as June was a very cool month in the area. a very refreshing dip in the water was briefly enjoyed/endured.

Loud and inconsiderate campers at the site next door greatly impacted my experience. If you are planning for a large group, please get a group site. Some people need to be reminded that a campground is not their backyard.
