The site was beautiful, but the black flies were really annoying!

Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

Great place to stop, beautiful sunsets. Biting flies were the only drawback.

Beautiful and quiet campground on a small bluff overlooking lake superior.
Pros: beautiful view (especially from the lakeside sites, very quiet, secluded beach, clean outhouses, friendly and helpful camp hosts, spacious sites
Cons: limited tree cover between sites leaving open view of neighbors, sites are very sandy making pulling in/out of sites difficult without 4/AWD (stayed in site 15).

I loved that 12 mi beach campground. You need to come prepared for not having a shower (we used the lake) and there is nothing close by so get ice and wood in advance. The toilets were surprisingly clean and there were kids activities in the evening.
