Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

It was a great campground with amazing views. Definitely would go again, no running water to my knowledge but the pit toilets were very clean.

Several things diminished our latest experience at 12 mi. Storms had wiped out two of the three stairways to the beach so reaching the beach was a not convenient for most campers. Campsites were wonderful as usual. An aggressive NPS ranger was not very friendly to dog owners and said that if people wanted to bring their dogs camping they should not come to a National Park. One couple who left their dog off lease to fetch a ball in the lake on a beach devoid of people were fined $130! Friendly people, friendly dog. Boy, he really showed them. Other rangers we have met at 12 mi have been friendly and interested in the visitors; this guy not so. But asked him about rules, he loves to recite them.

Great campsite. The rules on portable showers was a bummer, but we understood. Overall really nice place to stay with some of the best sunsets you can see from your campsite over Lake Superior
