Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

Spacious enough for our tent and car and with a well placed fire pit and picnic table. The access to the beach was honestly perfect. We heard the waves slapping on the shore nearby by there was enough tree coverage that the wind wasn’t an issue. You can walk maybe 50 ft and sit on the sandy hillside down to the beach and see all the stars and satellites in the sky. The toilets were close enough to be convenient but far enough away that they weren’t part of your experience. There’s also a very close water fountain nearby. No tree coverage that there’s spots for shade, but enough sunlight gets through that you can charge small mobile solar panels. Loved this site.

Twelve mile is quiet and private. Sites are huge, most are well separated from adjacent sites. Amazing views of the lake from the bluff. The beach is stunning. A very special place.

Beautiful location! The sunset was phenomenal with perfect weather. We went September 1st for reference. The campsite (#1) was 10 steps away from the view of the beach and there was a staircase to take you down to the beach. Stars were AMAZING at night. Weren’t able to see the northern lights though. Bathrooms were simple- just a toilet and a water fountain or sink maybe outside the bathroom. It’s about 45 minutes to the nearest little town and 45 or an hour to pictures rocks. Overall probably one of my favorite places I’ve ever camped!
