Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

We had a lovely time at twelve-mile beach campground. The vault toilets were some of the most pleasant I have ever used. The site was very well maintained and the beach was absolutely beautiful. It was a little chilly and very windy as of late May, but it can be a wonderful experience with the proper equipment. We had heard that the road to the chapel rock trailhead was super muddy and horrible, so my camping partner went to the little beaver trailhead instead and hiked along the coast going west. We went over 13 mi total and were able to get well past chapel rock and beach.

We had an amazing camping experience here! We spent the entire week at site 29 in our 17’ camper. It and our truck fit perfectly in the spot, and the proximity to the beach was the icing on the cake. It’s a beautiful, quiet little campground (seriously, very quiet) and everyone we ran into was very nice and respectful. It is a bit of a drive to Munising or Grand Marais, but that’s one of the main reasons we chose this campground— to get away! Luckily we brought our solar hookup and propane to last the whole week. We would recommend this campground to anyone!

The beach was, as always, beautiful and the waters colorful. One thing we noticed was the number of empty campsites in light of the campground showing fully booked. It's a shame that people don't cancel their reservation. There was no campground host yet so maybe that plays into it as well. Be sure to visit captain Ron's in Munising for fish sausage or fresh fish. Get some fish n chips at his food truck. Visit Miner's Pasties in Munising for the best pasties in the UP.

The campsites are separated and well laid out.
The sunsets are truly world class at this location as well as the natural surroundings.
The only issue was an incident from site 6 who ran a generator till midnight one night and the next night till just past eleven.
One other party on site 4 played music well after 10.00 pm and the gentleman from site 1 asked them to cease and they did.
We love this area and use to come here 25 years ago and it was very rustic but quite.
We stopped coming because it was not a reservable system yet and just very busy.
After this experience we will come again but only in May.
