Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

Campground / beach very clean and peaceful. James and Sue campgrounds hosts were two of the nicest people I've ever met. We became camp friends very quickly. If your able I would get them back I highly suggest it. Had a GREAT time there.

I would not recommend camping south of the outhouses because they smell.
Campfire wood is hard to access so pick some up prior to arrival.
If camping in a camper you will need to fill your water prior to arrival. Water access at TwelveMile Beach is via a small, solar spigot with no hose adapter.
This a a very wooded campground. It rained our entire trip rendering our solar panels ineffective. After 4 days, our battery power was minimal.
It is a beautiful campground and very peaceful, however. All of the above is a moot point if in a tent. We have done both over the years at TwelveMile Beach.

This is one of the best campgrounds I've been to. The beach is gorgeous (especially at sunset) and though our nearest set of stairs was broken (close to site 21), there were many other access points. There is also a nice day use area for when you checkout and want to spend more time at the beach.

We absolutely loved this campground and hope to return if we go back to the U.P. It was clean and friendly (great host) and the sunset was an added treat. The beach that this campground is on is pristine - beautiful sand and good swimming (may want shoes for swimming as under the water is rocky). We hiked the Chapel Rock loop (about a half-hour drive from the campground) and it was stunning.
