Twelvemile Beach Campground offers stunning views of Lake Superior and spacious, well-maintained campsites, providing a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. Campground hosts are friendly and helpful, contributing to a clean and welcoming environment. However, challenges with the reservation system and occasional mosquito swarms have been noted by guests, highlighting the need for preparation regarding bug protection and awareness of site availability.

Very nice, but old campfire ashes were strewn all over the place and difficult to avoid. A good job with a rake would have been appropriate.

One of the most beautiful places on our planet. Stunning, untouched beaches and abrupt changes in the weather. A real jewel for primitive camping

If the weather cooperates, this is one of my favorite places to camp, hike and relax. Very peaceful and spectacular scenery along Lake Superior. Be aware that if you don't bring it, they don't have it without driving back to Grand Marais.

Campsite is well maintained and the vault toilet is clean, but be careful mosquito! You will need a net to protect your face, except of some other regular protection.

Twelvemile Beach Campground is absolutely beautiful, with spacious campsites and amazing Lake Superior views. We booked three nights but only stayed one because the mosquitoes were unlike anything we’ve ever experienced.
We expected bugs, but we had no idea they could be this bad. We ended up wearing mosquito head nets just to be outside. Opening the tent or car door for a few seconds meant mosquitoes got inside, and no amount of bug spray seemed to help.
This isn’t really a criticism of the campground itself, we happened to visit during a major mosquito hatch. The campground is gorgeous, but if you’re visiting in early summer, come prepared with head nets and serious bug protection. The mosquitoes can be overwhelming.
