Our host was wonderful and moved us to a vacant site closer to the rest of our group and better able to accommodate us with 2 tents, 2 cars, and a trailer. She is a wonderful ambassador.

The camp hosts were friendly, vaults were clean, and sites were great. Lots of trees between sites for some privacy.

I always stay here when traveling through UP to Traverse City. The mosquitoes are friendly so make sure the screen is well placed. There are great hiking areas and river fishing is adjacent to many sites. Just a short way to the Kewadin Casino and the many St. Ignace tourist attractions.

Very pleased with the campground, and the young man who worked to sort things out for us to we could show up on the opening day of the season.

We stayed 2 nights at Carp River, in mid June. It was our first National Forrest campground. The campground was easy to locate. We reserved site #9 a few weeks in advance. It had a nice walk down to the river, fishing in mid June wasn't great, but we enjoyed it. Looking for the rustic experience while exploring St.Ignace. The camp hosts Mary & Joe where wonderful. Mary was more helpful and involved than any state park host I have encountered in the past. She had our site set up with our name plate, fire ring cleaned completely, and grass trimmed. She also gave us a disclaimer at check in about the severity of the mosquitos! Which where hellacious by the way. However, her suggestion about the mosquito face net from Ace was great advice! It was the only way to tolerate them. It was a great place if you're really looking to emerse yourself into nature, minimal neighbors, large rustic sites. Plenty of fallen dead firewood too.

Very pretty rustic campground along the Carp River near St Ignace. Convenient to that area and surrounding attractions. There is a campground host employed by the concessionaire. Everything appeared well maintained, vault toilets but clean and good condition. Was not busy during our stay and might be a good alternative to other busier modern campgrounds in the area like Straits State Park if you don't need hookups.
