We found the campground beautifully maintained and quiet. We were there in August and used it as a base camp for exploring Mackinac Island and nearby waterfalls. Would absolutely return. Thanks!

We camp here yearly, it makes for a great base camp for doing the tourist thing in Mackinaw and St Ignace, and the eastern U.P. in general. It's about 15 min from the bridge, and less than an hour to Sault Ste. Marie, T Falls are about a 90 min drive. Sites are very large and provide a nice "buffer" space between campers, and most sites offer plenty of room for larger RV's.
Be warned, there is NO ELECTRIC here, so plan on battery power or generators, or even better use this as a nice excuse to leave all that behind and enjoy light via lanterns and coffee with an old fashion perk pot over the fire. There is fresh water available in a couple spots from well pumps, but no water at the campsite. They have vault toilets, which were kept clean when we visited.
Carp River usually has hosts, which we found makes for cleaner and quieter campground and more often than not a better experience overall. The hosts when we were there (Aug 2019) were friendly and visible while doing their job, wish I could remember their names, but they were very good at what they did. Ice and firewood were sold at the host site, and they even had games available for lending out. It was a nice camping experience and we'll be back.

Well run campground. The host maintains the facilities and checks the sites many times daily. Close to st ignace and kewadin casino. Fly fishing down river is a careful walk as there are deep holes at river bends so carry a stick.

Carp River Campground is well situated near St. Ignace and Mackinac Island and the sites are well proportioned, spaced out and private. It has few amenities (firewood for sale, water and pit latrines) but it very good as a jumping of point for other destinations and a great destination in it's own right. Nice calm place to return to after a day out. We swam in Carp River (coldr but nice) and hiked a bit through the woods there which are birch & pine and beautiful. Our site was clean as a whistle and raked out when we arrived to boot.

Loved it. Bathrooms were clean and campground was quiet. Close to town, but still felt away. We learned from the host there is a useable role swing into the river a short way away, but we didn’t get a chance to try it out! Wading in the river to cool off was a delight. Just a beautiful, relaxing space.

Great location, the hosts are awesome, and sites are well spaced out and private. Carp River is a beautiful place to set up a base camp for Mackinaw and St Ignace activities. There are some good local trails and a rope swing over the river where a nice swimming hole is.
Be warned, there is no electric hook-up, nor are there any dump stations. Water is available via a pitcher pump.
