This was our 1st time being at this park. Spaces were of good size and well maintained.
I was doing some fishing and there was a good boat landing near by. The catching of
walleyes was a bit sparse when we were there how ever. My wife and I had a good stay

The COE Campground at The Lake Winnie Dam is one of the nicer campgrounds I’ve stayed at during my full-time travels around the U.S. It’s close to some outstanding recreation areas, especially water sports. The campsites are nicely spaced so you have privacy and the grounds are well maintained. My site was perfectly level and the smell of the pines made for a memorable north woods experience. There are plenty of sights to see nearby and you absolutely have to stop by the Gosh Dam Bar nearby for a really good meal and great atmosphere. This is a pretty small campground with plenty of amenities. I highly recommend it.

A little buggy but to be expected. The sites are large and not crowded. Only down side is the host was not around all too much. Very clean camp ground.

Getting There
From Deer River, Minnesota, take Highway 2 west for one mile. Turn right on Highway 46 and go 12 mi. Turn left on Itasca County 9 and continue 2 mi, then turn left at signs and follow to the campground.
Highway access
Winnie Dam Campground is accessible via Highway 2, which is approximately 1 mile from Deer River, and Highway 46, which is accessed by turning right from Highway 2.

- *This is a USACE Campground (Winnie Dam). Some visitors can get this confused with a U.S. Forest Service Campground titled: Winnie Campground.
- There is a code for the bathroom/shower building, please see host for code.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
