The overall experience was excellent. The campground and the area surrounding it are great places to relax and enjoy nature. The sites are nicely spaced from each other and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. If you are looking for the best sites, look to the side away from the road. We had site 17, which was a great spot, except it is about 50' from the road. People are up early going fishing and the truck noise is a little louder than ideal. Nothing terrible, just know that the sites along the road are pretty close to it.

This is a small campground with roomy sites, on-site host and very good bath facilities. There is a very nice little park adjacent to the campground that is on the headwaters of the Mississippi River. There are large numbers of mosquitoes in this area during the summer, and we bought a battery operated fogger that was a big help. This is a somewhat remote area, although there are some pretty good restaurants nearby, Big Fish Supper Club was very good and had some good specials. Deer River is about 15 miles away and has a good grocery store and a nice little casino. We would definitely stay there again, with our fogger.
