Very lovely location and nice campground lay out. We had never been there before and it was a great location to be close to wonderful hikes and day trip out from. The campground was not over crowded and clean and spacious.

The campground is great. The campground host is not nice and was rude.
My camp spot had very little level area for a site that was advertised as 40+ foot long.

This campground is a peaceful, well-maintained place to stay, with generous spacing between most sites that provides a comfortable sense of privacy. Each site is clean and comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. While most sites offer electric hookups only, there are a several full-hookup options available as well.
The facilities are consistently kept in excellent condition by the Corps of Engineers staff. Dumpsters, a dump station, and a bath/shower building are all conveniently located and reliably clean. There’s also a boat launch with a convenient fish-cleaning station.
It’s an easy walk from the campground to the nearby dam and into the village of Federal Dam. The town has a small convenience store/gas station and a gift shop—perfect for picking up essentials or a quick souvenir. If you’re looking for a shortcut, walk down the road past the playground and pavilion toward the dump station. Instead of turning right at the dump station, continue straight through the narrow wooded area and cross the highway—the gift shop will be right there.
Overall, it’s a quiet, comfortable campground with everything you need for a relaxing stay.

From Bemidji, Minnesota, take Highway 2 east for 35 miles to Bena, Turn south onto County Road 8 and proceed 8 miles to Federal Dam.
From Walker, Minnesota, take Highway 200 east for 20 miles to County Road 8. Turn north onto County Road 8 and proceed 14 miles to Federal Dam.

- Check in on or after the first date of your reservation.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Vehicles & parking
- Park vehicles and trailers on campsite pads or designated areas; tents must be on the campsite pad.
- No ATVs, UTVs, or motorized scooters are permitted in the campground.
Pets
- Keep pets leashed and clean up after them immediately.
Safety & rules
- Swimming is prohibited at boat ramps, docks, and the mooring canal.
Fires & fuel
- Use only certified firewood; unauthorized firewood may be removed and destroyed.
- Buy firewood locally and burn it on-site to prevent pests; visit the provided website for info.
