Reviewers praised the cleanliness of the vault toilets and the overall upkeep of the campground, especially under the management of the new host, Nicole, who was noted for her friendliness and dedication. The campsites are very large and beautiful. We had the entire campground to ourselves for the first few days so very peaceful. It was wonderful to be able to use generator as we travel with medical equipment. Also, the vault toilets were immaculate and smelled like peppermint. Can't beat the price either.

We were there later in the season. The facilities were very clean and in good repair. The campground was not crowded and the sites were not on top of each other. The area is what you would expect from northern Minnesota, stunning! Will be back again

Beautiful camp sites not right on top of each other. Spotless vault toilets. Quiet with spectacular weather

The campground was very clean and beautiful. Lots of space in each camp site. We had the entire campground to ourselves Monday and Tuesday. The vault toilets were immaculate and smelled good! We were impressed.

Camp Host Nicole was great. Camp was clean and restrooms were also. Trail by the lakes edge could use a trim but otherwise it was great

Nicole, our new campground host, was awesome! Our family has been camping at the Winnie Campground for decades, so we've seen many hosts come and go. We couldn't have asked for a more friendly, hard working, agreeable person than Nicole. She has the entire campground, including the bathrooms, looking great. Please find a way to keep her coming back. Thank you.

The campground host in the site next to us ran their generator all night every night of our stay saying that they had a medical condition and had to. I have sleep apnea too (the reason why the host said they had to run their generator). I respect the other campers enough to charge a battery that runs my CPAP overnight. Quiet and I can hear loons, water as waves hitting the shore, the birds and woods - - or usually I can until I am told that they have to run their generator over the entire night. Winnie is a primitive campground, I have visited it nearly every summer of my life. Not a nice and recharging vacation when I feel very disrespected by a host that can run their medical device off a battery over the hours that are designated as “quiet hours”. Choose a better campground host or just not have one as it can truly be a primitive campground. They can run a generator during the day to charge the battery which I did (it takes only a few hours to do this). We as a large family had multiple members that also need CPAP at night and we all used a battery to run our machines. All medical devices are required by law to run from a battery as a backup if the power goes out. Please respect the campers visiting the campground and get a more respectful campground host. I feel like much of my vacation I used to go to this campground this year was mostly wasted as my experience was not pleasant.

The campground host "Nichole" was the best host in over 45 years. the sites and walking trails were mowed and poison ivy free. The restrooms were cleaned every morning and restocked with toilet paper regularly. Please retain her services. Thank You! Charles R. Sonnek

Great week with good weather until the second weekend when the area was hit with a night of thunderstorms. Fishing was good and dining on them was even better. Many different types of birds and waterfowl, along with squirrels and chipmunks. We even saw black bear. Our camp host, Nicole and husband were fantastic, greeting all campers as they arrived, keeping the grounds well maintained and the restrooms maintained twice a day and never short of paper or hand cleaner. As always it is an enjoyable week of rustic camping that I have enjoyed since the year I turned 12 years old. I turned 74 this year.

This was one of the best trips to Winnie Campground in a long time. The campground host was very nice and hospitable.
The camp sites were all mowed and clean. The restrooms were clean, the toilet paper and hand soap were restocked properly. It's too bad about the bears checking out the campsites almost daily during the day time hours. It would be nice to have the poison ivy controlled around the lakeside steps and walking trails. How about cleaning out the boat docking lagoon so it is usable.
