What Guests Are Saying
Winnie Campground offers spacious and beautiful campsites, with a peaceful atmosphere, particularly when not crowded. Reviewers praised the cleanliness of the vault toilets and the overall upkeep of the campground, especially under the management of the new host, Nicole, who was noted for her friendliness and dedication. While there were some concerns about noise from generators and bear activity, the positive experiences and natural beauty of the campground were highlighted, making it a favored destination for many campers.

As I had never been to this campground before I chose a spot I thought I would be able to see the lake and site ten was not the right choice for that...lol...but the grounds were clean and a clean toilet so I was happy with my experience

We had a great time. Our site #19 had awesome trees so solar power was limited but in the end, we like trees. We were not boating or fishing so it made no difference but access to a boat from the site is limited. The shore was boulders buried in long grass. The view of the lake however from our campsite was perfect. It appeared to boaters it was a load-and-unload daily affair.

I have never had such a horrible group of people at a campground. The people at site 15 on 7/21/23-7/23/23 were up ALL NIGHT the whole time and yelling over their music and generator. Thee worst experience due to the inconsiderate, rude, loud people next to us. Their pit bull kept coming to our campsite and we would all 4 of us yell that they need to get their dog and they couldn't hear us over their music. Still they never leashed their pitbull. I'm afraid of them and my dog who was leashed up does not like other dogs none the less a pit bull. Dogs are supposed to be leashed and people need to be quiet while others are trying to sleep. Those people need to be banned. I was not able to sleep at all

Lots of bugs. Mosquitos were bad and the biting flies were worse. Active black bear in campground too. I woke up the first morning to a bear on my site. Bear bit the top of RTIC cooler and put tooth holes in the water jug. No bear boxes are provided.
Fishing was terrible. The only thing biting were the biting flies that followed me a few hundred feet off shore.
Shore sites are huge and great with water access. All non shore sites are mostly tiny with room for a tent and car.
No host so people were doing whatever they wanted. Someone brought a couple of 4 wheelers and a loud two stroke mini bike for their kids to drive around all day and through peoples sites. No firewood to purchase but the grass was mowed.
Left a day early. Would not recommend.

It was a wonderful space with deep campsites that had lake access via a walking trail and steps. It was a wonderful place. It was buggy, but that’s what is to be expected and rainy, which was inevitable. Had to not been as buggy and dry it would have been a perfect spot.

The boat ramps were almost unusable. People like this campground for fishing and when you can't do that you won't go back. I have used this campground for over 40 years but I don't know if we will go back.

We visited last fall and the grass wasn't cut (site 12) and it wasn't this past week either (13). We brought along a weed whip. The wind and cool weather kept the mosquitoes at bay the first day, but we were swarmed the second and third day. We left a day early.
