The sites were the best they've ever been as far as mowing and the campground host Nicole was super friendly. The bathrooms were extremely refreshing as well. The biggest problem was all the bears that were roaming throughout the campsites. We had to make sure we put are coolers in the vehicles so no food was left out. We've never had this big of a bear problem. So I give it a fair because of all the bears and having to keep coolers in the vehicles.

We come to Winnie every year. This was our best yet, thanks to host Nicole. She greeted us, made sure we understood campground rules, had our site perfectly prepared for us, and let us enjoy a flawless 2 weeks at the gorgeous Lake Winnie.

Camp sites were the best maintained in at least 15 years. Even the tent pads were cleaned and mowed! The current camp hosts did a great job. The only problem were the all too friendly bears.

The campground hasn’t looked this nice in years. The campground host, Nichol, and her husband have done a wonderful job in the upkeep of the campground. The only downside of our trip were the bears who kept coming into our site even though we had everything bear proofed. They are getting too brave.

The new campground host, Mike, made our entire trip frustrating and stressful. It was sad that such a beautiful place had to be "cared for" by such an individual. Our entire group of family members, around 100 of us, most who have been coming to the Winnie Campground for over 40 years, had a less than ideal vacation because of his actions and behavior. We can only hope that the Forest Service doesn't allow him back next season. Please feel free to contact me if you need further clarification on the subject.

This was a very nice experience this year compared to the last 10 years. The best part was having a campground host that was wiling to mow the grass in the camp sites and walking trails. Keeping the grass shorter was beneficial for keeping the mosquitoes and wood ticks down, and pushing the poison ivy away from our legs. A better job still needs to be done about the poison ivy next to the lake access cement steps. There are several down trees that would be available for firewood if we could only use our chainsaws.
Our family has been camping annually on Lake Winnie for over 60 years and regard this place as a tradition that started with our Grandfather, Herbert Bartelt in the 1930's. This year we had almost 60 family members there at one time including brothers, sisters, and cousins.
How about having a bathroom at the lake's public access? This would be very well used and appreciated by both the fisherman, campers, and hikers.
Keep up the good work!
