Had a super enjoyable time at Leech Lake Rec Area. The place was spotlessly kept, had numerous options for activities, and had some woodsy spots for those, like me, who like a little more private space when camping. The shower/bathhouse was meticulously clean and spacious. There was also a nice laundry area. The channel out to the lake itself provided an amazing spot to use paddle boards. The boaters (about 4) that passed in the 2 hours I was out on a paddle board were super courteous. Great space for boating too as there is a large parking lot and boat ramp. Additionally, there are numerous places they've placed hooks to hold your boat along the channel if you're staying in the campground. Kudos to the staff! They were constantly working on the place.

Campground was quiet and beautifully maintained. Staff kept the bath house very clean considering the campground was full. Everyone visiting was friendly and respectful. We were there for 2 weeks and enjoyed biking and walking around the park each day. The kids had a blast at the playground that was-steps from our site. And our site was enormous! While we only had our RV there, there was plenty of room to have brought another vehicle and a boat or other toys. And, Even though there are a lot of sites, there is so much space between site, you really feel like you can spread out and not be on top of anyone else. We had a severe storm come through during our stay and felt perfectly safe in the bath house. While a few trees did come down, staff quickly cleaned everything up. We did unfortunately spend several hours without power, but the whole area was down….the park did everything they could to help restore everything as quickly as possible. The camp host and rangers were very kind!

This is a clean well kept beautiful campground do to severe storms the crews were busy with some down trees an other storm related damage the crews did a excellent job with clean up have been coming to this campground for years it’s our favorite

  • Check in on or after the first date of your reservation.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

Vehicles & parking

  • Park vehicles and trailers on campsite pads or designated areas; tents must be on the campsite pad.
  • No ATVs, UTVs, or motorized scooters are permitted in the campground.

Pets

  • Keep pets leashed and clean up after them immediately.

Safety & rules

  • Swimming is prohibited at boat ramps, docks, and the mooring canal.

Fires & fuel

  • Use only certified firewood; unauthorized firewood may be removed and destroyed.
  • Buy firewood locally and burn it on-site to prevent pests; visit the provided website for info.
