Quite possibly the very best campground we've ever stayed at. Everything was clean and squared away. We'll definitely be returning.

Beautiful campground. Sites are very nicely spaced, not on top of each other. Plenty of room for our boat. Would have liked a few more trees for more privacy but still enjoyed our stay and will camp there again, as it's close to home.

Great camp hosts and volunteers. Park Rangers were always busy around the lake.

Two nights at Site 15 (electric) in mid-June, tent camping out of our truck. The Army Corps of Engineers runs a tight ship here and it shows everywhere. Sites are wooded, well spaced, and genuinely private — each with a picnic table and fire ring. The restrooms and showers were spotless the entire stay and the hot water never quit. Quiet at night, too.
Check-in is painless: you go straight to your assigned site, no stop at an office. Site 15 was level and easy to set up on.
A few practical notes for anyone booking:
- Firewood isn't sold inside the campground, and you can't bring your own (invasive-species rules — there's a sign on the way in). The marina/gift shop across the highway has bundles. Ours was dry and good but burned quick, so buy more than you think you'll need.
- Cell is spotty: a couple bars on Verizon, a little better on AT&T, but the tree canopy eats signal. Don't plan on streaming.
- Lots of shade, which our two huskies appreciated. Pets must be leashed (as posted), and there's plenty of room to walk dogs.
Fishing and boat access to Portage Bay is clearly the main draw, but even without a boat it's a beautiful, restful spot. We'll be back.
