I had a reservation for a BWCAW entry permit at Brule Lake on July 21, 2020. Driving from Des Moines, IA, I needed a Covid-safe camp ground for the evening of July 20. My walk-in site at Crescent Lake was close to Brule, convenient, and excellent.

We had a lovely stay! The camp host was friendly and helpful, the vault toilet was clean, and our campsite was perfect. We would return!

We love it!! The weather was a little too cold for us but our campsite was right next to the lake.. It was beautiful! The host is super helpful! The toilet is kept clean! We would definitely come back!

Always a beautiful campground and site. Campground permanent resident (forget his title) Jack was very helpful—busted out an air inflator to pump up a low tire and saved the day.

The campground is great!! We stumbled upon this campground a couple years ago and will make it an annual trip. The campground is quiet and peaceful, and the campsites and bathrooms are incredibly clean!! The site we stayed at (26) is right on the lake and it has an excellent view!! The campsite is on a slight slant, which made set up a little more challenging. Our picnic table and stove was at a constant slope, so make sure to bring some boards shimming. Overall, it was a great experience, and would encourage anyone to stay there!!

Travel Highway 61 along Lake Superior's north shore to Tofte, Minnesota. In Tofte, turn north (away from Lake Superior) on Sawbill Trail (CCHS 2). Follow the Sawbill Trail for 16 miles to The Grade (Forest Road 170). Turn right onto the The Grade and proceed east for 7 miles. The campground is on your right and is marked by a large sign.

General
- Limit of two vehicles per campsite, not including trailers; $10 fee for second vehicle. Extra vehicle can be paid online in advance or in person onsite. If paid onsite, you won't be charged the $2 add-on fee; free public parking lot is also available onsite near the campground
- Dogs are allowed but must be leashed
- Fires in campfire pits only and must be completely extinguished; cutting of live vegetation is not allowed
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of site in approved containers or locked inside a hard-sided vehicle and remove all food from area after eating

- Don't move firewood: To limit the spread of invasive tree-killing pests, firewood from outside the area is not permitted. Some states have quarantines and may confiscate your firewood.
