We are new to camping with our travel trailer and wanted some experience while still being close to home. In addition to lovely surroundings, we found friendly and helpful staff and neighbors. Some even came to our rescue on occasion. We hope to be back next year for a great outdoor getaway. Many thanks!

We had 2 different sites here, right by the boat launch. Hiking trails, docks for fishing, open restrooms and showers, and full hookups. Columbia is 15 minutes away with Walmart and restaurants. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is because hiking trails weren't cleaned up and sites #91 thru #95 were in disrepair. I recommend sites #74 and #75. On the the Tombigbee Waterway.

Don't miss walking on the paved trail through the back of the campground; it's wonderful, especially when you have it all to yourself, as I did. Tall trees; backwaters. There are signs for the trail on the main road through the campground. Also the paved trail through the huge picnic area is nice; it leads to a yard swing which needs oiling badly, but which looks over the water.
In general, this campground was extremely well designed and extremely well built. The concrete sites are level; there are level tent spaces; several restrooms. Everything was just very well thought out. There are also some hike in [short hike] tent sites, and a few of those are on the water. Some are pretty close together, but there are a few with more privacy.
The restrooms were very clean. It seemed that practically no one was using them when I was there. Seemed to be better than the usual showers. No paper towels, I think because of COVID.
There are some very nice sites on the water and some in the woods. What I like best are the large sites which give you more privacy, and there are a number of them. This is a good time of year to go because there are fewer campers, so you have more space.
The other campers were very friendly.
Very, very nice big trees, lots of deer tracks [and I saw four deer running through the woods next to the river] and squirrels and birds. There were so many small acorns on the ground that went pop! when you stepped on them.
Some beautiful weather at this time of year with no bugs and low humidity. The blue skies are wonderful, but so are the overcast skies. The nights can be cold, but if you have a heater, you're all set... or you can just bundle up.

We absolutely love this park. It is so peaceful with plenty of room for roaming. On the Tom Bisbee River. Very out of the way and secluded but 15 min. TO restaurants etc. Our go to place while visiting family in Columbus

From Columbus, Mississippi, take U.S. Highway 45 north to the junction with U.S. Highway 373/50 west. Turn left and continue for 1.5 miles to the junction with Stinson Creek Road. Travel 2 miles to Barton's Ferry Road and turn left. Proceed a half mile to the park entrance.
The campground is accessible via U.S. Highway 45, which is approximately 5 miles east, and U.S. Highway 373/50, which connects from U.S. Highway 45.
Elevation: 53 feet
9.1 mi drive to downtown Columbus (about 18 min)
Policies & Rules
General
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- Reservations cannot be made at the campground gate house.
- Campground gates are open; there is an emergency exit for campers
- Visitor hours are;
- Sites are avalible for reservation. All reservations must be made by using Recreation.gov.
- LOCAL CAMPING POLICIES A limit of 8 people per site. The America The Beautiful Senior and Access cards are accepted at this campground for discount camping. When making a reservation only one card can be used on one reservation. If multiple reservations are made with one card one reservation will receive the discount and the others will have to pay the full price upon check-in. A camping extension is no more than 14 additional camping days beyond a camper’s initial 14 day camping limit. For each camping extension granted, a camping party cannot exceed 14 days per extension and can only pay for 14 days at a time. Peak Season Extension Policy: Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Campgrounds. After the initial 14 day stay one extension is allowed on a non-prime site for a total of 28 days during peak season (March 1- Sept. 15). At the end of this 28 day stay the camper and equipment must move to another campground on the project but may return to the campground after 7 days. If camping on a prime site the camper must move to a non-prime site after the initial 14 day stay. Off Season Extension Policy: Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Campgrounds. After the initial 14 day stay no more than one extension will be allowed on a non-prime site for a total of 28 days during the off season (Sept. 13 -Feb. 28). At the end of this 28 day stay the camper and equipment must move to another campground on the project but may return to the campground after 7 days. Length of stay on a prime site during the off season remains limited to 14 days. A camper may stay on a prime site 14 days, and move to a non-prime site for 14 days. Extensions beyond the 14 day limit will not be granted during major summer holidays. Please turn in all passes to the park attendant when leaving the campground. Only empty boat trailers are allowed to be parked on grass.
