What Guests Are Saying
Council Bluff Recreation Area offers beautiful, spacious camping sites with a peaceful, wooded atmosphere and proximity to a lovely lake for swimming and kayaking. However, visitors noted significant issues, including a lack of potable water, broken facilities, and an overwhelming tick population. While the area is well-suited for family camping, maintenance concerns and facility management detract from the overall experience.

Had a beautiful weekend at Council Bluffs. However, this site states that there is water available. There isn't any water, potable or non-potable. All of the faucets were off.
Very quiet and nice.

This place is nice.
Quiet and secluded shady campsites.
We had planned to kayak on the lake, but it was too cool, so we hiked.

We enjoyed our weekend at the beach and utilizing the campsites. The beach is such a beautiful hidden gem! The campsites are nice and you do feel very secluded. We really enjoyed our time there.
My only complaint with this location would be the condition that the bathrooms are in. I kind of expected the ones in the actual campgrounds to be gnarly- which they were.. but the ones at the beach (actual flushable toilets) were just as disgusting. They need more attention than what they are currently receiving.
