I’ve been coming to Bucksaw for the last 16 years because of the peacefulness while camping. Nature is everywhere and the other campers are so nice. After the year of the flood I feared the campgrounds would be overrun and just a complete mess due to the water. But much to my amazement they were not. The people who take care of the shower houses and bathrooms at the present time are by far the best Bucksaw has had in the last 15 years. They check these stations 3 to 4 times daily and frequently power wash them out. The camp host even comes around to let us know if storms are predicted. I love camping there and will continue to for a long time.

We were unable to get a full hookup but no problem for us with large tanks. I am sure not complaining about the rates, but I feel there may be a mistake on the map for some sites. Site c24 and the rest in that row have a $25/night rate and do have hydrants with no handles, so no water. Other sites with electric and no water are $20/night. There must be some confusion on the rates for some sites. We do love to go to Bucksaw though. Clean facilities and campsites, nice hosts and always had friendly service at the entrance gate when it operated. It is both convenient and inconvenient not being able to check in at the gate for a walk in stay. If you have a phone or a computer that has phone service that works in that area (a lot do not work) It is quite convenient to get on line and reserve a spot after locating one. The worrisome part is that this will disenfranchise those who don't have internet phones or computers from being able to camp. Also there are still a lot of people unable to use internet for various reasons.
Apparently there won't be any offseason camping as none is shown on the website. We sure did enjoy doing some winter camping at a reduced rate before. There was no water or open facilities, but was a very nice getaway in the winter and to see winter time wildlife.
